Abstract

Physical and psychological changes during pregnancy can cause third-trimester pregnancy discomfort and anxiety. One of the efforts to prepare mothers physically and psychologically, including reducing anxiety in the face of childbirth, is prenatal yoga. Prenatal yoga prepares all pregnant women to undergo a normal delivery process with confidence, comfort, and away from anxiety in the face of childbirth. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of prenatal yoga on anxiety in dealing with delivery. The study used a pretest-posttest control group design. The population in this study were all pregnant women at the Bandung City Health Center. The sample was pregnant women aged 20-34 years, 20 people, both in the experimental and control groups. The data obtained are primary data from the questionnaire assessment of maternal anxiety facing childbirth as measured by the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS). Analysis of the data used is a normality test with the results of all data is normal (p-value > 0.05) so that it is continued with a paired t-test, unpaired t-test. The results showed that prenatal yoga effectively reduced maternal anxiety in facing childbirth with p < 0.05. It can be seen that there is a decrease in anxiety scores in the treatment group compared to the control group. It is hoped that prenatal yoga can be carried out in every health centre, both in class and independently by pregnant women.
