EDUKASI KOMUNIKASI SEKSUAL PADA CALON PENGANTIN: SEBUAH TANTANGAN DALAM KETERBATASAN

Abstract

Intimate relationships within the institution of marriage are a medium for fulfilling the sexual physiological needs of husband and wife, which in turn become a bridge to achieving satisfaction in marriage. One of the most important elements to build toward a better sexual life is sexual communication with your partner. A study proves that couples who express dissatisfaction with their sexual relationship also report a lack of communication and sexual expression. The study aimed to determine the effect of sexual communication education on the knowledge and attitudes of the prospective bride and groom. The benefit was to add input regarding the importance of providing sexual communication education to prospective brides.
The quantitative method used a quasi-experimental form of nonrandomized control group posttest-only design. This research began in October 2020 in Bogor. Data analysis included univariate and multivariate analysis using the Mann-Whitney nonparametric test. The univariate test results showed no difference between the intervention and control groups in the level of knowledge, where 33.3% of respondents had good knowledge about sexual communication. Attitude dimension in both groups, respondents were more dominant in having less supportive attitudes toward sexual communication. Bivariate analysis using the Mann-Whitney test showed no significant difference between the intervention and control groups (p>0.05), both in the knowledge and attitude dimensions. It is necessary to provide more intensive education to respondents using face-to-face methods, especially for sensitive content such as sexuality so that the material presented can be well received and absorbed by the respondents.
