Abstract

Currently, the automation method using a hematology analyzer is preferred over the manual method because of its high-level precision. In general, Quality control on hematology analyzers only used Westgard's rules, and six sigma analysis has not been used in the Clinical Laboratory of Budhi Asih hospital, although six sigma is also needed to see the level of accuracy and precision of a method. This study aims to analyze the use of six sigma as an evaluation of the quality control of the Sysmex XN-1000 in the clinical laboratory of Budhi Asih Hospital based on the parameters of HGB, RBC, WBC, HCT, and PLT. This descriptive study used data from the internal quality control results of the Budhi Asih Hospital clinical laboratory that were analyzed retrospectively for the period January to February 2022 with low, normal, and high-level control materials. Six sigma analysis involves CV and bias value.  The CV calculation is compared with the target kit insert value and the bias value is compared with Rico's biological variation standard. The results showed that the control material was in the 'in control' category, the CV value was below the set limit and the bias value was generally below the standard, except for the HCT parameter. Sigma value was in the category of world-class performance to marginal performance. This study concludes that quality control analysis was enough to use two levels of control material every day, which is accompanied by an analysis of Levey Jenning's curve using the Westgard rule.
