Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is currently still a world health problem and is an infectious disease. TB transmission mainly occurs through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes and another person inhales Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria. Education about Tuberculosis has a very important role in preventing and controlling the spread of this disease, with TB education can increase public knowledge and awareness of TB disease, can help reduce stigmatization, and increase understanding of the mode of transmission, symptoms, and preventive steps that can be taken. If TB education is not carried out, various negative consequences can occur, such as wider spread of the disease, delays in detection and treatment, stigma against TB may remain even increasing. The systematic review aimed to analyze the effect of health education on TB transmission prevention behavior. A literature search used the keywords 'Lung tuberculosis' AND ('health education' OR 'health literacy' OR 'education') AND ('Preventive health service' OR 'Preventive behavior'). In various databases such as ProQuest, Pubmed, ClinicalKey, Embase, and other online databases, 12,295 articles were found, and 7 selected articles met the inclusion criteria. The articles were quantitative research and published in English between 2018 and 2023. Articles were analyzed using the PRISMA method. The results showed that health education effectively increases knowledge and changes behavior related to Tuberculosis (TB) prevention. This information can support health policy making, program planning, and the development of intervention strategies that are more effective in reducing the burden of TB disease in the community.
