Abstract

The work environment of workers can affect their health condition.If the requirements of the work environment are not met, it can pose a risk to the occurrence of one of the commonly experienced occupational diseases, which is pulmonary function impairment. Dust that enters through the respiratory tract and enters the lungs can result in pulmonary function impairment. Pulmonary function impairment can cause respiratory problems and certainly affect lung function.This study used a cross-sectional design. The study sample consisted of 90 workers (used random sampling) in the industry who were exposed to airborne dust. To obtain data on the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), smoking habits, and exercise habits, a questionnaire was used, while measurements were taken to obtain the level of inhaled dust. The results of data analysis showed a significant relationship between the use of PPE and the level of inhaled dust with the occurrence of pulmonary function impairment in workers in the industry, while no significant relationship was found between smoking habits and exercise habits with the occurrence of pulmonary function impairment in workers in the industry. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is a priority to ber used by workers.
