PERBEDAAN WAKTU KONTAK KARBON AKTIF TERHADAP PENURUNAN KADAR AMONIA PADA LIMBAH CAIR DOMESTIK

Abstrak

Domestic Liquid Waste originating from bathroom waste water (black water and gray water), ablution water and waste water used for washing food equipment. The results of laboratory tests of chemical domestic wastewater quality carried the ammonia (NH3-N) parameter obtained is 56.20 mg / l, this result exceeds the standard quality of ammonia content of 10 mg / l in accordance with Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation Number 68 of 2016 about Water Quality Standards Domestic waste. This study aims to decide the efficiency and percentage of the average reduction in ammonia levels.The type of this research is all experiments with the design of the pretest - postest with control research, where there are 3 treatment differences in contact time of activated carbon 20 minutes, 40 minutes and 60 minutes with repetitions of 6 times. The population in this study is as long as domestic liquid waste and the sample is domestic liquid waste from effluent. Based on the results of the study, the average percentage decrease in ammonia levels in the treatment of contact time of 20 minutes was 49.87%, the 40-minute treatment was 63.28% and the 60-minute treatment was 75.46%. For the time that is efficient in reducing ammonia levels in domestic wastewater using the adsorption method using activated carbon media is 60 minutes contact time because it has a reduction percentage of up to 85.52%.
