HUBUNGAN ANTARA KUALITAS UDARA DENGAN GEJALA SICK BUILDING SYNDROME, BAGAIMANA PENANGGULANGANNYA? : LITERATURE REVIEW

Abstract

Sick Building Syndrome (SBS) is a collection of symptoms that can be experienced by workers who are indoors. Symptoms that can be experienced include eye irritation, respiratory problems, sore throat, headache, nausea, dizziness, and skin irritation. This study aimed to determine the factors that can trigger symptoms of SBS and its countermeasures. The method of creating this article used a literature review that discusses the relationship between air quality and SBS symptoms and how to overcome it. The article search used Pubmed, Science Direct, PLOS Journal, ProQuest, PubMed, Scopus, Research Gate, BMC, and Springer Link. National journal searches using the Garuda, Sinta, and Google Scholar portals with publication years 2013 - 2023. Selection of articles based on research design, namely observational research with a cross-sectional approach with the inclusion criteria of observational research types, discussing SBS with indoor air quality, and published in the last 10 years. The results of the review of 17 articles showed that factors that trigger SBS include the use of Air Conditioner (AC), ventilation area, lighting levels, temperature, humidity, and smoking habits. Things that can overcome the triggering factors of SBS include identifying sources of pollutants and evaluating and improving spatial systems, such as the placement of air conditioners and materials that have the potential to become pollutants.
