Abstract

Health management through diabetes e-monitoring is urgently needed by diabetics today. The advantage of Android-based diabetes e-monitoring is that patients can find out their health conditions and find recommendations needed through e-monitoring independently wherever and whenever. This research was conducted to get an overview of the instrument indicators needed so that diabetes e-monitoring is made exactly according to patient needs. This research was conducted with a qualitative study on 10 diabetes patients with in-depth interviews. Data analysis used the Colaizzi method. The results showed that there were 7 themes of patient experience in self-management of diabetes, namely managing diet; reduce weight, do regular exercise, independently control blood glucose levels, take medication as directed by a doctor, reduce stress, and comply with health protocols. This study also produced patient expectations for the development of diabetes e-monitoring media, which must pay attention to the following: the media must be clear, easy, interesting, brief, and useful. It is recommended for further research that the indicators for the diabetic e-monitoring instrument include the 6 themes above
