Abstract

Cockroaches are vectors that are often found in homes with poor sanitation which can affect the health conditions of the residents of the house, because cockroaches spread diseases such as typhoid, asthma, tuberculosis, and cholera. Efforts to control the presence of house cockroaches with the use of chemicals. Chemicals are applied by spraying or smoking the house cockroaches. This method can cause residues that affect human health. One solution that is increasingly being considered is to use repellents made from natural ingredients obtained from plants, for example the use of certain types of plants as insect repellents or insect repellents. The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of essential oil granules to resist the presence of house cockroaches. This study was a quasi-experimental study with a cross sectional approach. The population of this research was cockroaches obtained from the captivity of the IPB Bogor Health Entomology Laboratory. The research sample was taken as many as 150 individuals. Research has been carried out and obtained results of minimum deposition of 1.5% essential sminyak granules which can repel house cockroaches by 14% and the optimal holding time for kilemo granules to repel house cockroaches at 6 hours.
